•  A hand of 8 or 9 (in Baccarat, nine is the highest) is called a 'Natural' and the dealing stops. For all other numbers, the casino may instruct the card dealer to deal an additional third card. Casinos have exact rules about when to deal a third card.

•  The highest-scoring hand wins at Baccarat, with the casino paying out after collecting the losing bets. The player or dealer is uninvolved in payouts and plays against the casino just like everyone else.
